Cross Fit for the Mind

The Flip Side of Fear

Cross Fit for the Mind

The Newsletter that Changes the Minds of High Performers

So far, we've spoken about the more difficult aspects of growth, namely the amount of fear we must chew on.

But what if our quest can also bring us relief?

Sometimes when we try new things it helps us to discover something we are more suited to and any initial fear is replaced by a feeling of being more at home.

As the former Welsh rugby union player Alun Wyn Jones says in his book, 'when a place makes you feel at home, you feel yourself'.

What if by accident we discover something where the jacket fits us better?

I spent the best part of 15-years trying to be a long distance runner. I was injured for 12 of those 15-years. Part of the reason for this is I am 6ft 4 inches tall and 16-stone, in other words you could fit two Eliud Kipchoge's in me.

This meant, at some level I was always fighting against my body. I was always stiff and sore and it was always a struggle to maintain my racing weight of around 13-stone.

Playing rugby has suited me much better.

What jackets are you wearing that don't fit? What jackets might fit if you had the courage to try them on?
