Discipline is anything that serves your future self.
Discipline is good for you. Discipline is rewarding. Discipline feels nourishing. Discipline is encouraging. Discipline is caring and compassionate. Discipline has your best interests at heart. Discipline is like the most supportive sports coach you never had. Discipline encourages you to make space for it.
Tyranny is rigid and unforgiving.
Tyranny is punishment. Tyranny comes from a place of shame. Tyranny doesn't feel nourishing. Tyranny doesn't care about what sort of a situation you are in. Tyranny is afraid and always wants control. Tyranny is like the most demanding and unsupportive person you've ever met. Tyranny demands you do it all and then some more.
Discipline says you should exercise and eat well when it's possible because it will make you feel even better than you already do. It is your cheerleader. Discipline says you should practice compassion on the days you cannot eat well or exercise.
Tyranny says you need to exercise and eat well all the time. Tyranny says you need to make up for lost ground. Tyranny says you must punish yourself for failing to deliver or to keep up with your ideal regime.
Do you practice discipline or tyranny? Enjoying the newsletter and want a friend to sign up and answer the questions/prompts with you? You can send them this link to sign up.
