Despite being in Tenerife to work with cetaceans there was a range of other wildlife and farm animals for us to watch as well.
Birds
Cory's Shearwater
Although a lot of the bird species were the same as we get here in the UK such as collard doves, they also had 2 different species of pigeon and I was able to see a Island Canary as I was staying in the foothills of mount Teide national park. At the base in Arona I was able to see two kestrels but mostly I saw cory's shearwater and yellow legged gulls as they are seabirds.
Farm Animals
Goat
One day we were at home base for the day and we decided to walk into town to get some lunch, we found a beautiful butterfly, a farm that had a horse and some goats and we found it very amusing when the Lady "maaa'd" at the goats to get them to follow her.
Lizard sunbathing
Lizards
As we had gone for a walk in the beautiful sunshine the pavements and rocky walls were covered with small lizards they would scuttle away as you walked past returning to their basking site once you were a safe distance away. They were really cool to see.
Of course there was not much other wildlife that we got to see other than the marine life as we spent all our time out on the boats or by the beach.
The little bit of wildlife we did see though was really cool and I would love to learn more about the wildlife there in the future.
Anyway, that's all from me and I am wrapping up my week of Tenerife take over, I have you have enjoyed it!
