Cheetah with 2 Indian Attendants and a Stag is the name of a work of art painted by George Stubbs in 1764 and is currently located in the Manchester Art Gallery. The painting portrays a cheetah while an Indian servant removes the red hood from his eyes and a second Indian servant points him to a deer which the feline must hunt. In the 18th century it was not uncommon to use the cheetah to hunt other animals. This painting is inspired by a true story: the Duke of Cumberland was curious to see a cheetah hunting and the artist therefore decided to organize a real hunting trip. This story ended sadly, the deer that was to be killed by the cheetah did not flee before the predator. In contrast, the deer bravely faced the cheetah using its antlers.
