Hello, bookworms!
Happy Monday, I wish you all a lovely week. My job hunting has begun, so I need to talk about books to keep my mind off of it, or I'll simply start crying and hide in a hole.
That is why today we are here to talk about my bookish goals, both in terms of reading and challenges and in terms of what is going to happen on my blog and on my social media.
My main goal for 2023 is to read less. Yes, you read it right. I have read a lot in 2022, and while I enjoyed it very much, it also meant I watched very few shows and movies, and I put aside some other passions, such as cooking, journaling and writing. I will be still reading a lot of books, because I am excited about a lot of them, but I will also focus on prioritising other things, as they make me as happy as reading and I miss doing them, to be honest.

My only official challenges of the year are the Goodreads Challenge, with a 50 books goal for now, the Alphabetical Challenge, which does not stress me in the least, the Buzzowordathon, as it is one book a month and it's very easy, and the Popsugar Challenge, which has fairly easy prompts for 2023. Last year I took part in way too many challenges, some of which had difficult prompts, and I ended up reading a lot of things I did not care for. I am also going to take part in the Literally Dead Book Club hosted by @booksandlala, but I think I am going to skip some months, if the book sounds completely uninteresting to me.
I also have some unofficial goals for the year, as usual. Firstly, I want to keep reading diversely and hold myself accountable; I want to definitely read more books with disabled and neurodivergent main characters, and I want to keep reading as many queer books as possible. I also want to read more mystery thrillers by POC authors, which — as you may have noticed — are more difficult to find, especially in the adult age range, I believe.
Moreover, I want to read a lot of books from my physical TBR, so that I don't feel guilty when I buy a new book. I am not going to do the 23 Books for 2023 challenge, and I am not going to track the books every month on Instagram as I used to, but I want to read at least two or three physical books each month, so that I can buy more (it's a win win).
Aside from physical books, another thing I need to get better at is reading my damn e-ARCs and physical ARCs before requesting more. I have so many to review it's actually overwhelming, and I don't like this feeling. I want to read as many as I can this year, because they all deserve a chance and I want to talk about them with you.
Furthermore, I want to read a lot of 2023 releases, because I have a huge list of titles that sound amazing, and I don't want to procrastinate them. I usually had too many challenges to do to read whatever I wanted, but this is the year of what I call planned mood read. I cannot live without a TBR, and I love making those each month. However, I want to build more 'moody' TBRs, instead of focussing too much on the challenges. If I end up not finishing one or more of them, it's not the end of the world, that is what I am going to be telling myself, until I actually believe it. It's going to be hard, but I think I can do it.
As far as my social media are concerned, I think I am going to keep my feed as it is on Instagram, because I do believe it represents me and my reading quite well. On Twitter, I want to post more reading thread, because I find it interesting to reread them after a few months or even years to see what I was thinking of the books I was reading. What I need to get better at is TikTok, but I am still in the studying stage, moving towards the trial and error stage. If you have any ideas or requests of things you would like to see me post (you can find me @lapetitepritt), please feel free to share them in the comments, I'd love to know.

And finally, what can you expect here on the blog? For starters, I am going to keep writing my Reading the Rainbow and ARCs reviews; I am also be going to keep up the NelyaPritt's Middle Grade Chronicles monthly articles. What's going to change is the mystery thriller review of the month: as Vitt is in a bad reading slump, we will not be doing buddy reads for the time being, so I am going to transform the monthly format into a general format, and whenever I read a mystery or thriller, I'm going to post it under the Case /Whatever Number/ title. Some of them I will read with Juls, some of them on my own, some of them with Vitt, as soon as the reading slump releases her from its spires. We will see, we will see.
I am also planning on creating some book tags of my own, but I will be still answering every tag Juls creates. I have a few secret articles planned for this year, one of which is actually going to be part of a series, if I can manage to do that. I am not going to say anything, but it will feature me reading a genre I hardly ever read, to study what I think of it.
And I think this is all for now. If I have missed something and you want to know about it, please do let me know. I will talk to you very soon with my Yellowface review. Stay tuned.
