Seagulls are often maligned. In the UK, I have often heard comments about them being aggressive, a nuisance, attacking humans. In the Caribbean, I believe they are more friendly; in fact, we have a species calledLaughing Gulls- and some elegant terns. Some species are threatened and the rarest gull in the world is, I understand, the endemic Black-billed Gull( Tarāpuka) of New Zealand.

BirdsCaribbean has an active Seabird Working Group, co-chaired by Jamaica-based Ann Sutton(independent researcher),Rhiannon Austin (research associate at the University of Liverpool), and Yvan Satgé (independent researcher associated with Clemson University). Much more research needs to be doneon Caribbean seabirds, many of which face huge challenges - including climate change. They deserve our protection.
These are seagulls in Blackpool - a seaside town in the north west of England. Such exquisite photographs, I had to share them with you.
