Yesterday was another day of digging, but I'm getting near the "end" of the biggest garden bed overhaul. Omg, I was tired!
You might get bored with my weed reports. I just feel lucky to have more time.
The other thing I'm particularly grateful for is that there have been very few biting bugs. Gary says it's because our weather has been cool. But I won't worry about tomorrow's weather or mosquitoes.
Gary stopped by our local liquor store to pick up several boxes. We'll layer the cardboard with soil to try to keep weeds from moving back in so fast. 🤞
He was asked if we are moving. There's a potential new rumour for the townsfolk!
A little less of a helluva mess …
Foreground: Persicaria bistorta, rhubarb
Background: peonies and a ton more weeds.
My husband and I sat on the deck at lunchtime, partly admiring my handiwork. He helpfully remarked that there was so much more to do. 😠
He did also say we were "practicing for Gimli". When we go to Manitoba next month, we will stay at the family cottage on Lake Winnipeg, where it is customary to take lunch on the patio. Yay! 👍
Today is the date of Myrtle's birthday. I haven't decided if there is a heaven, but if there is, she is surely there.
Despite her eccentricities, our stepmother did the best she could. Can you imagine being a newlywed (for the first time) at 48 and inheriting teenagers 15 and 19? Whew.
We all did the best we could. I miss Myrtle very much.
