Innovation reducing the digital divide in Paris… technology is powerful when people feel included in its evolution …During Jeud’Innov 15, a monthly mayor’s initiative in Paris in 2025, the lessons were clear: - Innovation thrives most when it’s shared. - Innovation grows strongest when constraints are present. - Innovation becomes meaningful when it is accessible to all. Launched in April 2025, Jeud’Innov 15 provides practical workshops in AI, 3D printing, cybersecurity, augmented reality, digital wellbeing, robotics, and more. It brings together children, seniors, families, tech enthusiasts, and complete beginners under the same roof, all learning side by side. Each event is framed as a moment of exchange, discovery, transmission, and shared learning. This is innovation in its most community-based form. In my Innovation Within Constraints Handbook, launched in January 2025, I explore the idea that innovation is not about having more funding, more time, more people, or more equipment, but about using available resources with intentionality and creativity. Jeud’Innov 15 demonstrates this principle beautifully through four constraints. - Constraint: diverse community needs. Innovation: Intergenerational, curiosity-driven workshops that adapt to all levels. - Constraint: Limited public-sector budget. Innovation: Strategic partnerships to access technology and expertise. - Constraint: The persistent digital divide. Innovation: Free workshops that demystify digital tools for people of all ages. - Constraint: Need for high impact with low resources. Innovation: Scalable monthly workshops with formats that build continuity and community ownership. This is the kind of grassroots, community-led creativity that reinforces the local government’s message: Technology is powerful when people feel included in its evolution. Jeud’Innov 15 goes beyond teaching digital skills. It fosters belonging, access, and empowerment. It closes gaps between generations, between levels of digital literacy, and between people and the rapidly changing world around them. In a time when many citizens feel left behind by digital transformation, this initiative gives agency back to the community. And that, to me, is the heart of innovation: not the tool itself, but the empowerment it brings. To illustrate this real-world example of “innovation within constraints” I’ve created a short case study that expands on the principles behind Jeud’Innov 15 and how it aligns with my innovation philosophy.
