I am still in Italy, and keep meaning to post about my travels, but it's hard to find the time! Yesterday I drove from San Marino back into Italy, and reached Assisi, in the area where my Petrini ancestors lived. I stayed in the last two places -- Ravenna and San Marino -- only two days each. So I was busy trying to see everything I wanted to see, and just getting a feel for the towns. That meant I didn't take time out to stop and write about them, though I hope to go back and do that eventually.
The first floor of this cute little house is my Airbnb apartment. It's lovely inside! It's just a few steps from the main piazza in town, but is on a quiet little courtyard, so the location is perfect. I am here for five days, so I hope to have time to relax a bit. And do some laundry. I have a kitchen, so I can eat some meals here if I want. Last night I picked up bread, cheese, and salad stuff, and had a quiet dinner in my pretty dining room, under a crystal chandelier.
Already, I can see that Assisi seems more commercialized than when I was last here 10 years ago. But in the evening, the day-trippers get back on their tour buses to head to Florence or wherever they're staying, and the streets become peaceful again. My little courtyard, though, is always that way.

The ground-level apartment of the little yellow house is mine this week. The steepness of the hillside means that the other side of the apartment is actually a level above the street. I'll post interior photos soon.
