Lawn Cottage Bed & Breakfast, Stour Row, Shaftesbury, Dorset

Located in the serene village of Stour Row near Shaftesbury, Lawn Cottage beckons travellers seeking a quintessential Dorset retreat. This charming 18th-century stone cottage exudes warmth and character, offering antique-filled rooms and a picturesque garden with a welcoming terrace. It's an ideal sanctuary for guests looking to unwind and rejuvenate amidst peaceful surroundings.

The cottage recently transformed its front lawn into raised vegetable beds, yielding fresh beans, potatoes, tomatoes, and herbs seasonally. Guests can also access Duncliffe Wood through a gate in the garden, a sprawling 250-acre woodland adorned with springtime blooms of primroses, violets, bluebells, and foxgloves.

Accommodation at Lawn Cottage includes three cosy rooms: a ground floor twin/double with an en suite shower room and TV/DVD player, suitable for those with mobility challenges; a ground floor lofty single/bunk bedroom with an en suite shower, similarly accessible; and an upstairs double bedroom with a private bathroom.

In addition to bed and breakfast rooms, the cottage offers a refurbished shepherd's hut for a unique glamping experience. Named 'Louis', this hut features a wood burner for warmth and hot water, along with modern amenities for comfort.

Each morning, guests indulge in a hearty full English breakfast featuring organic eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, Dorset cereals, porridge, and a selection of breads with homemade jams. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the cosy kitchen with its Aga stove or in the more formal dining room.

Strategically positioned on the borders of Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire, Lawn Cottage serves as an excellent base for exploring the region's attractions. Just three miles from Shaftesbury, guests can easily visit landmarks like Gold Hill, famous for its appearance in the Hovis advert, and nearby Sherborne with its abbey and castles.

Wilton House, Longleat, Sherborne Castles, and National Trust properties like Stourhead and Kingston Lacey are all within a short drive, offering further exploration opportunities. Dorset's charming villages, historic churches, and scenic countryside beckon visitors to discover its unique allure.
